This was a new build, incorporating blinds, intercom, lighting, networks, CCTV, audio and video to the main home and a garden studio. The client built the garden studio first, so we had to get that ready for AV and high speed Wifi whilst the main house was under construction.
After a few months the main house was ready for cabling, so the client opted for a Control4 system in the main lounge, with a soundbar and Triad ceiling speakers for the 5.1 surround sound system. A small niche was made for the Triad floorstanding subwoofer to keep it out of the way but retaining the bassy punch required for movie nights!
In all the rooms Triad ceiling speakers were installed for music playback, along with wireless Control4 lighting keypad dimmers and switches to control all the LED downlights and LED tape – these then link to the Control4 system allowing the client to adjust each lighting circuit from the Control4 app on their phone.
The blinds from Somfy are equipped with wireless electric motors, and can be operated from the Control4 system app on the clients phone, a nearby lighting keypad, and even Alexa voice control.
We were asked to step up and install all the dimmable warm white LED tape, soldering all the connections (as is standard on all our lighting projects) and ensuring that the drivers were correctly rated for each length of tape. The in-ceiling flush-mounted aluminium extrusion provides a stunning finish and definitely adds to the wow factor of the ground floor open-plan living area.
The master bedroom also had a colour-changing RGBW LED running around the ceiling, all controlled from the clients smartphone.
A vandal resistant Doorbird intercom panel was installed at the front door, which allows the client to see and communicate with visitors whilst away from home.
We opted for a Lilin CCTV system, linked to the clients home automation and phone, and able to record on a 30 day loop.
